FAQ Answers:

    GETTING INTO THE WEBSITE
  1. How do I get my password if I have forgotten it?
On the log in screen, there's a link for "forgot your password?" That link will prompt you for your email address which doubles as your account name. Once you input that, the system will email a link that will allow you to reset your password. When you get that link in your email, click on it and you can pick a new password for yourself.
  2. How do I change my password?
To change your password, you will first click on your "Profile" link at the top of the page. Within your profile page, you will find a "Reset Password" link.
  3. What is my access code?
An "access code" is a set of numbers and letters that represents your pass to enter into the system. You were likely given this code from your past employer or when you made your purchase. Once you have that code, you can enter it here and you will be asked to create a user name and password for yourself. Once you have a user name and password, you will no longer need your access code.
  4. What if I have lost my access code?
If you have lost your access code, you have a couple of options. First, You can talk to your job coach. They know how to get your access code and I'm sure they would like to touch base with you anyway. This will give you a chance to put something on their todo list instead of them always putting stuff on your todo list. Secondly, If you do not have a job coach or your coach is playing hard to get, you can send some mail to access@next-job.com with your name and the organization or individual who originally paid for or gave your access code to you. Then we'll get it to you as quickly as possible.

  6. Why does my access code not work?
Your access code may not work for several reasons:
    1. It could have timed out. You only have a certain amount of time to use your access code. If it times out, you can talk to your job coach about your options.
    2. You could have been given an incomplete access code or you could be entering the code incorrectly. Talk to your coach. If your access code came to you in an email, try cutting and pasting it into the access code entry field. If you are entering it by hand, make sure your letter Os are Os, your zeros are zeros, your ones are ones and your letter Ls are Ls. Your access code is not case sensitive, so you don't have to worry about that at least.
    3. Your code could have been used by someone else that you know or do not know. Access codes are designed to work only for you. If someone else uses it, your coach can figure that out and set you up with another code.
  7. Why can't I log in?
I am still not able to get on the NextJobtraining.com site. I still get an error message. I wonder if it is possibly my computer.
We haven't found a computer yet that couldn't do the login portion of the training website. The site is built on standard web technology, so all popular browsers will be able to login. It is highly unlikely that the problem exists on your computer.
The first thing to do is make sure you are on the right web site. NextJob has several web sites. Your access code and account are waiting for you on only one site. Check with your coach to be sure of yours. Most users will be looking for this site: http://www.nextjobtraining.com. Others might be looking for http://www.jobcoachcenter.com. Read the error message that the login process is giving you. You may have an active account already which is why your access code isn't working, your password may be wrong, or your user name may not be what you think it is. Try resetting your password with the "forgot password" link. If you get no response from that, you're likely not using the right account." Make sure you're putting your access code in the access code input field or using the correct username and password field for your username and password. The wrong fields will make everything impossible." Your access code is likely 12 characters - two letters and ten numbers, or four letters and 8 numbers." If yours doesn't fit one of those patterns, check with your coach to confirm you have the right one.
  8. Can I change my account name from my old email address to my new email address?
Unfortunately you cannot make this change directly. Your coach can, however. If you don't have a coach, talk to technical support and we'll get it done for you. Remember that the email address that shows up on your resume is separate from the address that you use to log in. So, it may not be necessary to change your account name from one email address to another if you only want your resume to contain a different address.
  9. What do I do after I log in?
The first page you see should be the NextJob Main menu." It will have training modules or chapters across the top."" The first one is likely called "Getting Started". "Click on one of those that interest you." Read all the pages and follow the directions." Use the "Next" button on every page to move from page to page.

    RESUME QUESTIONS
  14. Can I email my resume?
Yes you can! You can send it to yourself and also to anyone else that you like directly from the training site. We recommend that when sending to someone else, you should first send it to yourself and then forward so that the mail to your intended recipient appears to be coming directly from you. It's more personal that way and a response will come right back to you.
  15. What is an Active Resume?
An Active resume is the resume that is displayed in the resume builder and the resume training module and is modified when you make changes. If you have multiple resumes in your account, then only one resume at a time can be modified. That’s the active one. If you have only one resume in your list of resumes, then that one resume is always the active resume. The Active resume is indicated by a checkmark in the “My Resumes” menu as well as with an “Active” indicator in the list of resumes in your files list. By Selecting a resume in the “My Resumes” menu, that resume will become the “Active” Resume.
  16. Can I have multiple versions of my resume?
Yes. While editing your resume, you can “Save As” your resume into a separate copy. You can also select File->New to start with a blank resume template. Importing your resume will also create a separate resume that you can build on. You can see the complete list of your resumes in the “My Resumes” menu and from that menu, you can select any one of your resumes to be the active resume. The currently active resume will have a checkmark next to its name and that resume version will be edited when you make changes.
  17. Why would I want to create a new resume?
You might want to create a new resume to apply for a specific job, a special type of employer, or to leave off certain information. For example, you might leave off your address on a resume you want to post on a job board. You can either copy the Active Resume or start a brand new blank resume and recreate it from scratch.
  18. What is the difference between viewing a normal and a long resume?
The Long Resume training module in the software explains that a long resume has much more detail on your accomplishments than a normal resume would. These additional details are what you will talk about in an interview situation. You will find that most hiring managers will be quite impressed if you give them plenty of detail after an interview. The long resume is a good way to completely sum yourself up with all the good details about your experience.
  19. Do I need to save my resume?
It does not hurt, but no, not really. Every time you make a change in a field and move your cursor out of that field, the data is saved to your active resume. The save button is there only to invite you to move your cursor out of an input field which will initiate a save. Remember you can also email it to yourself if you want to save it to your personal computer outside of the software.
  20. Can I undo changes that I have made to my resume?
No, when you leave a field, the text is instantly saved so you don't lose what you have done. Remember, if you do not want to lose what you have entered, save a new version of your resume. That way you always have an untouched version of your original resume.
  21. Can I simply copy one of the example resumes?
Unfortunately, no. Part of the magic of creating a resume all your own is that you get the practice of thinking about your experience, skills and accomplishments. It may be a little slower approach, but you will end up with a better product and a better understanding of yourself.

  23. What if I do not like the format of my resume?
NextJob is pretty proud of the resume format that we have produced. There has been a lot of research into it and lot of success by real job seekers using it, but it may not be the perfect fit for every situation. For this reason, you can email the resume to yourself and modify it in MS Word or any other editor that will read a .doc file.
  24. How do I change the page break locations on my resume?
To manually set the page breaks in your resume, save your resume in the Word format or email it to yourself in the Word format. Then use your document editor to set the page breaks manually. Note that when you change data outside of the Resume Editor tool, you will not be able to get that data back into the resume editor, so it is a good idea to do this page break modification last.
  25. Where do I put my LinkedIn contact?
The email field in the contact section is a good place. You can put it right next to your email address. Some may find that one of the phone number fields also would work well. When you get in that interview, remember to explain to them how you are comfortable with out of the box solutions. You can use this as an example.
  26. Where do I input my information in the resume?
A resume is a collection of several sections. For example, "Contact", "Summary" and "Notable Accomplishments". The Resume Editor contains a section for each of those. These sections all begin minimized on the page so that you can focus on a specific section that interests you at the time. Look for the little + - boxes. If you click on a section header, you will see input fields for that section. Click on a field and you will be able to input information into that field. Each section also exists on one or more pages in the resume editor training module pages. This expanded contract works the same there.
  27. Can I import my resume?
Yes you can. Look for the import menu item at the bottom of the file menu within the resume builder.
  28. What is the benefit of having my resume in the system?
There are a few benefits to using this system; 1) your coach can help you with your resume, 2) "it may help to have it in the system as you work through the training and focus on each piece section by section, and 3) the system can create a PDF out of your resume which is a good format with which to send resumes to prospective employers."
  29. What is "edit my resume"
Within the NextJob site, there are two ways to build your resume. The first is by following the resume training section pages sequentially and entering the components of your resume as the training talks about them. The second is by using "edit resume" which is simply all of the entry screens from within the resume training all strung close together so that you don't have to go poking through many pages to find each section. For some, this will be a more streamlined way to enter your resume. Otherwise, this tool is a good way to quickly review, update and modify the information in your resume that was collected during the training.
  30. What about Mac to PC consistency?
Q: I have a friend who is using a Mac and wants to be certain that when he generates his resume on our software it will transfer over to a PC with no problems. When he sends it out to someone with a PC, will it still look the same?" Yes, it should look exactly the same between a Mac and a PC. Word files are meant to be standard across both platforms. The one thing that can vary, however, is the print drivers. If your word file looks one way and then different on another computer, (even PC to PC or Mac to Mac) it could be because the two machines have different printers. Usually it's a matter of margins. Some printers can't print as small a margin as other. The way to get around that problem and any other questions about the way it will look on another machine is to use the PDF option in the resume software. The PDF's claim to fame is consistency. I'd say consistency is its middle name, but it's not, it is document.
  31. Are Accomplishments the same as significant accomplishments?
No, they are different. The theory is that you will enter all your accomplishments for all of your positions and then sit back and look them over to find the most significant ones. Enter those most significant ones into the significant accomplishment section. This is like highlighting your best and putting it up front to be found as quickly as possible.

    PRINTER PROBLEMS
  33. What if I cannot print?
The print button works by using the print functions in your browser and your computer. If you cannot print, it might be because you do not have a printer driver installed. If you do have a printer installed and can print from your computer, you might try a different browser. One of these three typically works well: Internet Explorer, Fire Fox, and Chrome. Remember you can also email a copy of your resume to yourself then forward it to someone else that has a printer installed.
  34. When I print from the system, I get headers and footers like I'm printing a web page. How do I get rid of those?
When printing directly from the nextjobtraining.com website, the system uses the print system that is a part of your browser. If it is on the normal settings, your browser will try to put the headers and footers on your paper that it thinks are appropriate. You can change this setting easily. Go to the "Page Setup" options that are normally in your computer's "File" menu. In some browsers, the "Page Setup" controls are elsewhere and in some they are not available at all."" If you do not have these controls, try a different browser." Another option is to email or export to yourself a MS Word or a PDF version of your resume and print it from there.

    FEEDBACK
  36. How can I provide feedback on the training software or the weekly JobTALK webinars?
You can give feedback to your coach or through the feedback link on each training page or by sending email to info@nextjob.com. We would love to hear from you.
  37. Where else can I get help?
Your coach is your first line of defence against the unknown. They know a lot of information and they love a challenge. See if you can stump them. If they don't know an answer, they'll know how to find it. If you don't have a coach, send your question to support@nextjob.com
